Where this actually starts
Send a reminder. Then another. Still no idea why it hasn't been paid.
We sent the invoice. No response. The reminders kept firing, right on schedule, and still nothing came in. An accountant would follow up again, and again, without ever really understanding what was happening on the other end. That's the moment this started: watching someone repeat the same unanswered question, week after week, and realizing no one could tell them why.
The operations never really end, and a single DSO number was never going to explain all of it.

What we noticed

Finance operations teams everywhere have been left to handle that part manually, and it's an ongoing challenge, not specific to one company, one industry, or one team.
What we believe
